BIG AL practices new approach Text Box: Another year, another last place finish. That’s how you would define Stamper’s Bowling Team ( SBT ). This year, each player show marked improvement over last, yet the results were the same, LAST PLACE. In the past, usually during the middle of the season, SBT seemed to be in position to make a run at a playoff spot. But each time, an injury, a slump, bad oil, you name it, something happened and the bottom fell out. This year was different, no such run took place. Each good game brought out the best from the opponent and regardless of SBT’s effort, they would end up losing the match. This year the team suffered from a season ending injury to Text Box: the BIG AL HOHF. Stricken with diabetes, BA had to hang up his ball and concentrate on his health. BA’s average from previous years to now probably suffered due to this disorder. Now wearing a huge boot, about the size of team captain Mark Wagner’s head, BIG AL said “I’m feeling much better, the foot has heeled and the doctor said I should be good enough to come back next year” This year also saw the promise of rookie, Josh Glemza. Josh came in and bowled some pretty impressive games. He, along with Steve Johnston and Mike Novatny are the future of a team that has aging veterans and a middle vet in his prime in Alex Berki. Text Box: IT’s Jeffry Time Text Box: Jeff Paulin found his comfort zone leading off for the team this year. Other times, when dropped in the order, Jeff’s score suffered as did his confidence. But when Captain Mark Wagner put him back to leadoff, wham, his scores increased and he became more consistent. One of Jeff’s Text Box: weaknesses is his inability to keep a story under two frames. When he rambles, his teammates lose concentration and their scores decrease. But Jeff, sensing urgency, has been able to stand up and proclaim, “it’s Jeffry Time”. This year Jeff introduced a new Text Box: apparatuses to help his balance when he makes his approach to throw the ball. The JeffWeed Fannie Pack allows a bowler to place objects of different weights inside to help offset an imbalance upon approach. Text Box: Stampers Bowling Team
